Ayurveda, the holistic traditional system of medicine in India, has been practiced for thousands of years. Over this weekend intensive with TJ Burleigh, you will have the opportunity to explore Ayurveda as it relates to your yoga practice. Dive into the yoga of nutrition, using simple remedies at home to keep you and your family healthier. Learn about the individual doshas, or constitutions, and how to tailor your personal practice. Discover different forms of meditation, mudra, and lifestyle medicine to deepen your practice of these ancient systems.

The weekend includes yoga asana/movement practices suitable for all levels, discussion of Indian medicine principles and healing, yoga therapy for common issues, practice handouts, Ayurvedic treats and teas, and individual constitution take home instructions. This immersion is for all levels and abilities.

This immersion will include:

  • Intro to Ayurveda
  • Asana and pranayama practice
  • Discussion of food/nutrition, seasonal influence, and healing through lifestyle
  • Meditation for your Ayurvedic type
  • Introduction to the deities and rituals of Ayurvedic healing
  • Creating a take home plan for personal practice

Instructor — Traci Joy Burleigh

Traci Joy (TJ) Burleigh is a long-time yogi, Vipassana practitioner, health educator and coach, Ayurvedic practitioner and bodyworker. She loves yoga for it’s dynamic and uniting practices of body and heart.

She owns and operates “Arts of Flesh”, in San Francisco CA, enriching people’s lives through her attentive presence, intuitive insight, technical skill, bold encouragement, humor and radical embodiment. TJ’s experience of yoga is unbranded and inimitable. She brings a passion for anatomy, breath, biomechanics, feeling great, poetry, and permission to her teaching.

She teaches at UCSF, SF General Hospital, and privately. TJ is certified at the highest level with Yoga Alliance, E-RYT and is a member of IAYT. She is on the faculty of Yoga Mendocino, where she has trained teachers since 2005. She can be reached at tjb9@mac.com.
