Instructor — Bill Wyland

Bill Wyland is the co-owner and a managing partner of Align Integrative Wellness, LLC. Together, with his sister Savonn, they oversee the vision, development and growth of their studios: Bernal Yoga, Sellwood Yoga and Align Fitness.

After a career in the labor movement in Washington D.C. and California, Bill changed professions and helped his sister Savonn open Bernal Yoga in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood in 2002. In 2009, they opened Sellwood Yoga, followed by Align Fitness in 2013, both in Portland’s Sellwood neighborhood.

As a studio owner and yoga teacher, Bill’s overall philosophy is rooted in the belief that the practice of yoga is an important piece in the overall approach to healthy living. One should use the skills and awareness yoga creates in all foundations of life, including health, relationships, work and personal evolution.

Bill is a longtime athlete, who began taking yoga classes after college as a way to continue playing sports (injury-free as possible) while getting older. After feeling the positive effects of increased flexibility, strength and awareness, he began to add more yoga classes into his weekly routine.

He got his yoga teaching certification at the Sacred Movement Center for Yoga and Healling in Venice, California, where he studied with Max Strom, Shiva Rea and Saul David Raye. He also has a Thai Yoga Therapy Massage certification from the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, California.
